He talked about nothing, about everything. Better than the constant loneliness. He would have gladly given her anything in the world. The bell above the door chimed merrily as he opened it. He’d felt that. But he sure as hell noticed now. Her hand stopped him. wait. It hadn’t been a dream. He nodded, understanding – she could only be here for as long as the candle lasted. That damn candle hadn’t helped at all. His big hands found her sides, holding her, and he abruptly realized she was naked; she had always been naked.
